MOUNTAIN GROVE — A woman was critically injured and two of her relatives were killed by her estranged husband before he turned the gun on himself, police said.
Police went to the Mountain Grove home of April Mead, 26, on Thursday after receiving a call saying three people were dead and one was injured, according to a news release from the Mountain Grove police.
When they arrived, police found Mead critically injured with a gunshot wound to the head. Her mother, Ellan Mae Loman, 46, and a 10-year-old girl relative were found shot to death, as was Mead’s estranged husband, Harold Wayne Mead Jr., 37.
The girl’s name and relationship to the other victims was not immediately released.
April Mead was hospitalized in Springfield. Her condition was not immediately available Friday.
Police believe Harold Mead entered the home Thursday evening and opened fire with a .22-caliber rifle, but they did not release a possible motive for the shootings.
Another man in the home, Edward ClarenceDewitt, 49, suffered superficial wounds during the shooting, according to the news release.
