Man arrested after woman is stabbed in Douglass Park

COLUMBIA — A Columbia man was arrested on assault charges after a woman was stabbed Friday night in Douglass Park, according to a Columbia police news release.

William D. Jackson, 48, was arrested at the park on charges of second-degree domestic assault, according to the release.

At 8:58 p.m., officers responded to a reported stabbing at 400 N. Providence Road. Upon arrival, the officers found a 48-year-old woman who had suffered knife wounds. The woman was taken by ambulance to University Hospital where she received treatment for her injuries, according to the release.

Jackson was released from the Boone County Jail on $4,500 bond on Saturday morning.

In 2003, Jackson pleaded guilty to third-degree assault charges with physical injury and completed 731 days probation.
