ROLLA — Elizabeth “Betsy” Rodriguez has been appointed the University of Missouri System’s vice president of human resources, UM President Gary Forsee said at the Board of Curators meeting Friday.

Rodriguez, 49, is currently serving as the interim associate vice president for human resources at the University of Colorado System.

She will assume her new post in July.

According to a UM press release, responsibilities of the job include overseeing labor and employee relations, compensation matters, faculty and staff benefits, recruitment, professional development, affirmative action and human resources information systems.

Rodriguez graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. In 1983, she earned her master’s degree in psychology with a social psychology emphasis from MU. She has spent more than two decades in the human resources field.

Rodriguez replaces R. Kenneth Hutchinson, who retired at the end of 2007. K. Blake Danuser, the system’s associate vice president for human resources for the system, served as the interim vice president.
