January and February

Honeymoon in the Southern Hemisphere. Australia, the Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America, Southeast Asia, Africa or the Maldives would be good spots.

But those tourist magnets will be crowded. Also remember that the summer is the rainy season in tropical countries, so you could either get lots of sun or lots of rain. Europe, Canada and the western part of the United States will be cold, if you are looking for a ski vacation.

March and April

This is a good time to enjoy late summer and early fall in the Southern Hemisphere. It’s not as hot or crowded, but it’s still warm enough for the beach. Consider French Polynesia, the Maldives and Mauritius. Spring in Europe is a good option for those who like mild weather.

May and June

Opt for Fiji and Madagascar. Tropical countries will be cooler by now. Europe, the United States and Canada are warmer, but tourist spots become more crowded. Hurricane season in the Caribbean starts in June, but Bermuda becomes an option.

July and August

Winter resorts are enjoyable in Chile and Argentina this time of year. It’s summer in the Northern Hemisphere, so the United States and Europe will be hot and packed with tourists. Thailand and French Polynesia have good weather.

September and October

The Caribbean is still in hurricane season, but Bermuda, French Polynesia, Thailand, Mauritius and the Maldives remain possibilities. For those who love the fall colors, look to Canada and Europe.

November and December

South America gets a lot of rain in November, but it becomes very warm — and crowded — in December. Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia are options this time of year.

The hurricane season in the Caribbean ends in late November, so it becomes a contender in December. Europe, Canada, the United States and central Asia are colder and not too crowded.
