COLUMBIA — A Columbia woman was arrested Thursday in connection with two February purse snatching cases that occurred at area grocery stores.

Emily Hampton, 34, of 811 N. Sixth St., was arrested on suspicion of two felony charges of stealing and one count of misdemeanor fraudulent use of a credit device, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.

She was taken to Boone County Jail and her bond was set at $10,000.

Investigators used video surveillance obtained from Gerbes and Mosers to identify the suspect, according to Sgt. Ken Hammond.

Police arrested Hampton after conducting a search of her home Thursday. The report said that during the search police discovered several items that implicated her in the theft cases.
