Weather stops Tuesday's baseball, softball games

COLUMBIA — The Missouri baseball team’s home opener against Western Illinois on Tuesday has been canceled because of the weather.

Tuesday’s Columbia forecast calls for unseasonably cold temperatures, an inch of snow and wind gusting up to 25 mph.

Columbia College’s softball doubleheader against Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis, scheduled for Tuesday, was also canceled. The western St. Louis metro area is expected to be hit harder than Columbia.

The Tigers baseball team’s home opener will now take place Friday against Indiana State. There are no plans to make up the Western Illinois game.

The Cougars softball games will be postponed, but there is no word yet on when the make-up games will be played.
